One Year, Five Continents

In 2000, I spent 380 hours in the air on 113 takeoffs and landings, flying 163,371 flight miles, visiting 25 different cities in 9 countries on 5 continents, not including layovers where I didn't leave the airport.

The latest set of photographs are from that year of grand travels, one from each continent outside North America.

  1. Opera House Fireworks I rang in the "millenium" in Sydney with a million revelers. Nothing like starting off with a blast!
  2. Shafted Visiting Egypt was a dream come true, to do it with lifelong friends was sweet perfection. This photgraph was taken in the Red Pyramid at Dahsur where we had the rare privilege of being alone in the pyramid for a time.
  3. Rainy Colors While visiting a small village near Huang Shan, we were hit with a deluge which flooded the tiny streets. Some of the tourists seemed annoyed that I was documenting their tribulations.
  4. Fountaine of Bleau A visit to Paris is not complete without an excursion to one of the many chateaux within a few hours drive or train ride. The most famous of these is, of course, Versailles, but there are many, more remote, and less tourist-infested finds. One of these is Fountainebleau, where N and I spent a fine Saturday afternoon admiring the history and soaking in the culture.
